Re: Modern use of Dominion Atlantic
Nice Concept for the DAR though would they actually use Railroad instead of Railway in the name?
Here's my WHAT IF RDC concept scheme, for the Nova Scotia Government taking over RDC service in Nova Scotia after VIA and banned public bus service between communities (Acadian Bus Lines | Maritime Bus) so that people would be forced to use rail service.
If I had front view of the RDC you would see the NS flag with the crest on the door. The crest that's on the RDC I found on Google along with the Nova Scotia Government department logo. I thought Communities, Culture and Heritage would be the fitting department instead of Transportation because the RDC service would be binding communities & culture together and heritage being rail service.

Wow Samual,
Now you're reading my mind! That's really close to what I had in mind, about the only difference would be to have the blue stripes intersect on the left of the cab below the window and have the red and yellow coat of arms on a bit of an angle there, the road number would be below the engineer's window.
Service would still go to Yarmouth and Sidney, but there would be commuter service from the Halifax station, to Windsor Junction, to Dartmouth.

Re: Modern use of Dominion Atlantic
I can try for you, never really done much in the way of doing things like that, though it's a simple scheme that I done up in paint so I might be able too. Post the image and I'll see what I can do.DragonHeart wrote:Samual if i give you a trainz reskin texture would you be able to make one of my trainz locos with throws colors ?

Hey Can you please provide me a screen shot or an image of the RDC with the current paint scheme, as I find the texturing layout a bit confusing and believe I know what some parts are but I'll need to know what's what so I can put the colours in the correct spot.
As the images I had used were straight up black and white drawings which I just changed what I needed changed.

If you have the S File viewer you could download the RDCs from the library section and get a pretty good idea from that.

Steve I tried looking for that "S File Viewer" and all I kept finding was something for converting images files into different formats nothing seems to be for previewing an image into a 3d one. Do you have the link for the site of this program?STEM wrote:If you have the S File viewer you could download the RDCs from the library section and get a pretty good idea from that.
---UPDATE---
Also I've got Tim (he also did my WHRC Caboose & Engine) doing up the custom paint job of the RDC-2 for me. So when it's done I'll post the picture of it on here.
Which do one do you guys thinks looks better the one with Nova Scotia Communities, Culture & Heritage or Nova Scotia Government of Nova Scotia?

Hey I haven't been having much luck trying to get a NSR on the image you gave to me, as it's a bit more of a pain trying to figure things out and plus for it it's not a drawing like the other images that I've used which are only one sided.
Attached are some more possible design ideas for my NSR what if layout which I'm leaning more and more towards doing. All SW1500 would be named after a Lt. Gov. and the number of that engine would be after the years they severed. So in the attached on it's 2006 - 2012.
I'm even thinking of doing up an F40PH scheme as well though I haven't figured out a numbering scheme for it yet. Though on the front part of the engine it would have the flag. Though I'm also trying to figure out what type of bigger engine I'd like to use. I was thinking of a F40PH to pull VIA cars around but I don't know yet. Or if I would use anything bigger, maybe some SD40? I don't really want to go too much bigger with engines as my over all planned layout is switching, and provincial passenger service.

Wow Samuel,
When you said a "modern" DAR I was thinking chopped nosed GP-9s... an F40! I guess I', still stuck in the '80s, I saw a shot yesterday of little Iowa Interstate's newest motive power... a new GE ES44AC!

Re: Modern use of Dominion Atlantic
Paul I'm going for today era running so I can have any freight cars I want, and also so I can run today type of passenger cars. And anything that's old like a stream train I may want to run it will be an excursion train for tourist to enjoy! Though for what I'm still trying to figure out is the over all layout though that will depend on what Margaret and I get for a house with the room or a barn with the room for what I want to build.
I'm using SW1500 as SW are my favourite diesel engines, and well since I wasn't sure what I wanted for a bigger engine I had looked at the F40PH because it could be used for both Passenger service and freight service! I don't want to have any larger engines in NSR scheme as CN would still be the main carrier out of Nova Scotia, and in my layout, NS Government owns that tracks in NS so CN doesn't need to worry about maintenance they only have to pay a usage fee which for them would be cheaper then them owning the tracks, and because of that, CN runs more freight trains out of Halifax and the container ports would be much bigger because NS has made it cheaper for ships to dock in Nova Scotia then it would be to go into the St Lawrence River to Quebec City, Montreal or into the Great Lakes. Also because NS Government would own the tracks we've made it even cheaper for VIA to operate with in NS so because of that and much greater demand for rail service VIA runs two trains a day in/out of Halifax. And in my What If world it only takes 11 hours to get to Montreal from Halifax and Vice Ver Sa.

Hi Samuel,
CN doesn't worry about maintaining it now!
Eleven hours... but who's going to pay for roomettes?
HO scale? Hard to do the DAR in a small space... maybe the NS Government owned the Dartmouth Sub and you could do a layout with a lot of switching and the Halifax commuter service running their RDCs on it. There is a nice stretch of "wilderness" between Burnside and Windsor Junction if you want some scenery.
