OK. I understand and I moved it to here:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 08218&z=18

But I don't see it. Where's the road in the picture you can see on the map? Where's the kink in the track on the picture that you can't see on the map?

I think I'm going to vote for this location:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 08218&z=18

The kink is there and all the buildings appear to be in all the right places.

This is the one I was discussing about moving the photo location
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0313720316

That is your Mystery 2 button.

Now onto the first one with the kinked track,
http://www.dardpi.ca/Forum/download/fil ... &mode=view

You think it is Waterville....hmmmm I think you might be right and it isn't as straight as I thought it was. The white building on the right is still there. I'll swing by there on the way home and have a look.

Agree wholeheartedly on the Aylesford photo. I guess we got our wires crossed about which shot we were talking about. Have now put it here on the map:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 65918&z=15

and here on the wiki:
http://www.dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?tit ... 1975_a.jpg

That would be cool if you stopped and looked today at that possible Waterville shot. Snap a shot if you remembered your camera!
I uploaded the photo to the wiki now:
http://www.dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?tit ... 1975_a.jpg

and renamed the Google map pin:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 65918&z=15

OK, so I went by and checked out Waterville. That unknown mystery photo definately Waterville looking east. The white building still exists, the blue house has been replaced by a newer split entry. The woods have grown up so duplicating the shot is not possible but I do have one of the white garage and the track alignment to upload when I think about it.

Thanks for confirming that Ric. It's great when we can turn these photos into real places like this.

Just for a laugh, can anyone figure out what these photos wre taken from and which direction theyh were going when they were taken?

My guess is that they were taken on the Dayliner headed east. John was most likely up front with the engineer talking with him and snapping pictures.

OK here is my guess

Looking at the Waterville picture an knowing it was taken mid July and looking at the shadow on the house, I would say close to midday. Closest schedule I can find at Steve Boykos site is effective April 1972. The 7/18/75 is a Friday and looking at that schedule, it would have been about 1:45pm, on train two heading east. Also up in the upper right corner, you can see the rounded edge of the window and the fact that he is in the middle of the tracks would be the RDC

It would also explain the pose of the worker next to the speeder, one leg perched leaning/resting on it. He is waiting for the RDC to go by. The one thinG I am surprised about is the lack of what I can see of a station or even people for teh train.

Yup we got dumped on for two straight days. Had a bit Thursday night and Friday night/Sat morning was unbelievable. They were calling for 15-25cms overnight and snow squalls into Sunday but I think we got closer to 40 cms when all was said and done. That pic is Sunday afternoon. Supposed to get to 7C today and rain tonight and tomorrow.

Wow. You've got a winter wonderland going there. Nice thing is it will all be gone by February!

I told it was weird here and the photo proves it. No snow in Edmonton on November 25? Just plain strange.

That piece of the 104 is famous for being treacherous. I remember once having to stop in a line of traffic because a car spun out. When I got out the car I immediately went down and COULD NOT STAND UP the back ice was so slippery. I had to crawl back into the car. Never seen anything like it!!
