Hello again,

I see that Steve has uploaded a recent purchase of mine in the form of this view: http://dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?title=I ... 1973_a.jpg

I was indeed wondering if the storage tanks and delivery trucks on the left side of the picture are the ones Doug Schaffner alluded to? Or are these part of the Imperial Oil facility, which I'm guessing is the red structure beyond the depot? I was looking at the other view from here that we discussed earlier and I don't quite make out the loading rack that Doug referred to. What am I missing? http://dardpi.ca/wiki/index.php?title=I ... 6_Yard.jpg
And does anyone have any idea what would have been in the two boxcars in this view? Thanks again for your help. I hope everyone is enjoying the higher resolution views. Take care,

Chuck

Chuck Conway & List: Boxcars are unloading LCL freight at the DAR freight station. Imperial tank cars would be unloaded on same (dead-end) track as Texaco, beyond tank car shown in photo. I have a photo taken from on top of the Texaco storage tanks which shows both unloading facilities. Understand I cannot post pictures from my PC to the forum but if I had your email I would be pleased to send them along. As for the 1973 photo, that is the Texaco plant, Imperial having been re-located to St. Anthony Street. I believe both customers were receiving their product by transport truck by 1973.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for your input on the operations at Annapolis Royal. It's really added a lot to the conversation. As to sharing your picture(s) I appreciate the offer. I would recommend that you consider sending an email with the picture attached to Steve Meredith as I'm sure he would be happy to add it to the other views from Annapolis Royal. That way everyone would get to what you have and there does seem to be a fair amount of interest in this subject. All for now. Take care,

Chuck

Hi Chuck, Steve & List:
No, boxcars are not at Imperial oil, they are at the DAR freight shed and contain LCL freight. My latest post (Christmas Trees) shows both tank car unloading facilities. Re Steve's Nov. 20 post, that is the Texaco storage plant in the background, the Imperial plant having been relocated by that date. That might be a Texaco tank car behind the trees at upper right, but if memory serves me correctly trucks had replaced rail delivery by 1973.
