I finally bought a copy of Clarke's History of the Earliest Railways in Nova Scotia by W.W. Clarke. Does anyone else have a copy? It is hard to find as it was privately printed on pretty cheap paper. Clarke was a DAR conductor and wrote this anecdotal history of the DAR about 1925. There are some great half tone photos and lots of mentions of specific locomotives. It is a bit rambling but a wonderful personalized look at the DAR in its busiest years. I will try and add some of its content to the DPI as time permits.

Re: Books
Dan,
I have a copy and agree with your comments. I think it was self published and lacked a book editor. It appears he composed a good deal of the book "from memory" as some of his material on steamships does not match PTT's or Woodworth's accounts. None the less, it offers some great material on individual officers & employees and is a good read.
Always wondered if this booklet didn't prompt GM George Graham (a budding historian in his own right) to have his employee, Marguerite Woodworth, write the "official" history of the DAR.
