Hi Steve and All:

I am a lifelong DAR fan, and am excited that this resource now exists. As Steve mentioned, DAR stuff abounds, but it is scattered. I think we can change that. Here are the things I would like to come from this site:

A references page. There is much info that has already been written on the DAR, and it can't all be put online, due to copyright. I plan to submit a list of what I know of and have.

An MSTS 2 DAR route. If interest exists, there could be routes from different eras as well. I don't know how to use the route builder, but hopefully it could become a cooperative effort amonst our members.

Others are likely to be interested in model railroading. There should be info on that as well, but I would like to see in kept seperate from prototype info.

I have a decent collection of DAR memorabilia, and DAR photos. Unfortunately, it is all in storage at the moment. Once I have access, I will work on this.

Cheers,

Well Mathew, here's hoping you're able to dig that stuff out of storage to share with us. I can't get enough access to photos to satisfy my cravings and the more info I get the more refined my trackplan becomes. Finding a photo is like getting a Christmas present for me  .

I couldn't agree with you more! I am looking forward to creating an MSTS 2 D.A.R. I have to admit this is one of the driving forces for digitalizing D.A.R. items. From the study of these digitalized artifacts, one day I hope to see a group of us start to create digital models that can be used both to create scale models and to create rendered models suitable for use on MSTS 2.

I'd like to point out that copyright is an issue I'm willing to take care of if you have the info to submit. The opening page to the site is a bold statement that under section 29, because this is a non-profit initiative and strictly for the purposes of studying the D.A.R., copyright in fact does not apply within the confines of this site.

Now having said that, it is important to the whole process that we identify the source as completely as possible and give the proper credit whenever possible so don't forget that aspect when submitting digitized images.

I'm willing to defend the use of copyright info under section 29 should push comes to shove! So please, let me handle the copyright issues and let's contribute and enjoy the fruits of a collection of digitized memorabilia that will finally paint a vista of the D.A.R., my favourite railway!
