I meant to post this a long time ago (years!) but have always forgotten.
I know from conversations I've had from relatives and children of DAR employees that worked on section gangs that each subdivision was broken into sections.
If anyone has such information about what sections constituted each subdivision, please sing out. I'd love to add that detail into every subdivision we have.

Re: Track Sections
Back in the 1980's there was a small building in Princeport that belonged to the railway. It was like a building to store equipment in but not a regular section house. This building still had the coal stove unused for many years as was the building. Over the door was a sign made of metal with the letters cut out and numbers. It was SEC under this was 4 and a short verticle line then 5. I always wanted to know if this was where section 4 ended and 5 started? I still have the sign in the basement. I also seem to remember seeing a sign accross fron the Annapolis Royal station on the telegraph pole that looked the same as the one I have.

Re: Track Sections
As I rummage through some of my old DAR papers I found old job awards for Lead Track Maintainers Jan. 25,1980. These are listed Sect1 Windsor Jct. ,Sect2 Windsor, Sect3 Kennetcook, Sect4 Truro, Sect5 Hantsport,Sect6 Kentville,Sec7Middleton, Sect 8 Bridgetown, Section9 Digby,Sect10 Weymouth, Sect11 Yarmouth. These are all followed by the persons name that was appointed.
There would have been more sections in earlier years and alot more men working on the railway.

Re: Track Sections
I remember when we were talking to some of the sectionmen and their families they remarked on that the section they were responsible for changed in size. I am not sure when this happened.

Re: Track Sections
It was sometime before 1980 that there were many more sections than this> I had in my hands once a document from an employee in the 50's or 60's of Section 4 I believe in the Ellershouse area. Huey was going to let me have the whole box full of DAR company documents from his Dad but he unfortunately passed away suddenly before this happened.
