I thought I'd let everyone know that we will be using the freight shed for the Middleton Farmer's Market on Fridays beginning in Oct. The space is also available for all you D.A.R. buffs to hold your model railroad shows. Any proceeds would have to go towards funding the museum. It's a fantastic venue for this type of display. It has been upgraded with lots of new electrical outlets. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks very much for keeping us us up to date with all the messages on all the forums Janet.
I very much hope that some one or group will take it to task to hold railway interest function at the museum.
Perhaps it's time for a modular DAR HO or N scale club??

In Halifax, I am a little far away to organize a show in Middleton but if someone picks an auspicious date, I'd be happy to come down and set up my DAR HO and G scale models in the Middleton Shed. I did the same in Kingsport and had a blast.

Re: Memory Lane Railway Museum - Freight Shed Available for Show
Hello Dan:
Let me know if you gentlemen can cook something up. I think it would be an appropriate venue for a model railway show. There was a show in the Middleton Firehall a number of years back, that I took my son to... he loved it.
If you planned a show, maybe with enough notice you might want to announce in the papers, a possible gathering of past DAR rail workers, to gather in the shed for coffee, a light snack, and idle chitchat about the DAR. It would be easy to place something in the newspapers here in the valley.
We've just lost Ron Johnson, who although he didn't work on the railway, had quite a few stories told to him by others. Also, Terry has lots of info. stored in his head as well as articles he's been digging out of newspaper archives. We've also lost Fred Balcomb who was 82 years old and a former DAR worker here in the valley. He was keen to attend such a gathering.
I know how much you guys love the DAR and this would be a good opportunity to get together and put on a show as well as invite interested people to come for an informal chat. You could set up a video camera and tape the conversation.
You just never know what tidbits of information you will find to help with your DAR investigations!
The ball is in your court, fellas!

I wonder if some of our Valley modellers would get onboard for this like Ric Hamilton and Jim Taylor? Dan knows both of them, having been involved on the Berwick Apple Museum's layout.
Any chance Dan?
What do you guys think of a modular DAR? Perfect for meets and even I could build a standard module although linking it up with yours might be challenge.

I will chat about the idea at the train show in Truro on Oct. 16, see if any other valley modelers are interested. Anyone else out there in DAR-DPI land interested in this too? I am not wild about doing all the organization from Halifax. Middleton is a two hour drive from me and I recently did the eco thing and gave up the car so it'd mean a rental.

That would be nice of you to field the idea in October. Thanks Dan.
By the way, did you mean ECOnomy, ECOlogical or both? Don't you wish there still was a Dayliner to the Valley now!!
