Last Saturday, June 26, Paul Bushnell and I put on a small DAR themed train show at the Kingsport Community Centre as part of Kingsport Gala Days. The community centre is in an old general store right beside the spur where the tracks once went to the wharf. I ran my G Scale DAR trains and Paul set up a HO layout depicting the whole Kingsport wye. I contributed some of my DAR buildings and Paul had a great set of CPR consists from different eras. (Unfortunately I was too busy take any pictures.) We had a great day and plan to expand it next year and make it an annual event. Lots of old timers came by with stories of riding the train to school in Kentville and tales of various DAR characters. One great story from the 1940s was a runaway boxcar which a few boys started rolling by the station as a joke but couldn't stop. It roared downgrade to the wharf with two of the boys clinging to it and almost went off the end of the wharf!

Re: DAR Train Show Kingsport
That's a great one about the box car.
We'll have to scan th web and see if someone posted their pictures of your train setup. Someone must have taken at least a few photos. I would love to see them.
