1901 Nova Scotia Chapter 91 - An Act to amend Chapter 88 of the Acts of 1899, entitled, "An Act to authorize the Town of Truro to borrow money to pay a bonus to the Midland Railway Company, and to amend Chapter 85 of the Acts of 1898."
An Act was approved by the Nova Scotia legislature on April 4th 1901 to amend the act which allowed the town of Truro to borrow money to pay a bonus to the Midland Railway (Chapter 88, Acts of 1899). The amendments allowed the town to make its debentures payable in thirty years, instead of twenty years. The town was required to assess the ratepayers of the town amounts annually to eventually pay off the debentures; in the first act this was not less than 5 percent annually of the total to be raised, in this amendment, the minimum was lowered to 2 and a half percent annually.
This 1901 act also amended some details in an act which allowed the town of Truro to expropriate land (Chapter 85, Acts of 1898).
Summaries of the various sections of the act are just below, while digital images of the 2 pages of the act from the statute books in the Archives of Nova Scotia are shown at the bottom of this page.
