NARRATIVE: This object was found in the spring of 2005 by the firm of Neill & Gunter Ltd., a Design & Consulting Engineer Co. working for the town of Kentville to clean up the former Dominion Atlantic Railway (Canadian Pacific) lands located at the western end of the Town of Kentville. It is part of a large collection of artifacts unearthed near the railway roundhouse and was donated to the museum in the fall of 2005.
DESCRIPTION: Circular in shape, button shaped finial, domed cover, stone-ware finish, salt glazed, possibly orange peel finish.
HISTORY OF USE: Original owner of the Kentville Railway Roundhouse is Dominion Atlantic Railway (1894 to 1911). Canadian Pacific Railway was the owner after 1911. It is likely that these artifacts were part of the dining service on the train.
Possibly a lid from a 1/2 imperial gallon crock.
