Jim Simmons

Jim is a railway enthusiast and an amateur railway historian. His favorite road is the Halifax and Southwestern but professes an interest for any Canadian National lines in the Maritimes, especially in the Halifax area. Some years back Jim published an extensive article published in CN Lines Sig on the H&SW as well as several other articles in the CN Lines Sig. His most recent article was in October of 2010 on the Halifax Terminal in Transition. (CN Lines Sig).

Jim enjoys composing and researching railway articles as he grew up around railways as a child and was fortunate to have been able to tag along on his father's coat tails and see the end of steam and the first generation diesels arrive first hand. He comes from five generations of railroaders with many direct and distant family members having worked for the railway. Jim has an extensive collection of photos of mostly Maritime railway interests and is an active model railroader as well.
